Sketching Plein Air Summer Special 29.07.26

This is an event I've wanted to host for some time now. Being surrounded by such beautiful landscapes, every summer I think how great it would be to host a series of outdoor sketching events where we can simply slow down, look more closely, and draw the landscape around us.. The only problem was deciding where to take everyone which felt private enough for us to takeover a space! Plus have access to a toilet... that was important.

 

Then one warm summer evening, while sitting on a little wooden bridge with my feet in the River Chess, feeling absolutely bliss before an event I was attending started, I had my eureka moment. I realised I was sitting in the perfect location! It's an absolute feast for the senses and more than inspiring for the creative juices!

 

So now I'm extremely excited to finally share this very special plein air event at the truly idyllic Loudwater Farm in Rickmansworth.

 

Loudwater Farm is a gorgeous 18th Century Farmhouse surrounded by three acres of leafy grounds, the garden is bordered on three sides by the tranquil River Chess and is overflowing with inspiration at every turn. Whether you're drawn to the character of the farmhouse itself, the winding river, charming wooden outhouses, wildflowers, giant trees, or the abundance of wildlife (there's always a pheasant or two strutting around), there is no shortage of beautiful subjects to capture.. There's even a swing! Every corner offers something different, making it the perfect setting to explore, observe and create at your own pace.

 

The event will last 2 hours, giving us plenty of time to explore the garden and fill our pages with nature! I'll bring along some prompts that will encourage you to observe with different perspectives, but if that doesn't work for you the you are most welcome to settle in a spot and spend 2 hours capturing what you see in any style or medium you wish.
